All About Rosie

Rosie Cotton was born in SR 1384 in Hobbiton, Daughter of Tolman Cotton and Lily Brown. She had four brothers, Tolman (Tom), Wilcome (Jolly), Bowman (Nick), and Carl (Nibs). Her father was a farmer. When happy, she liked to sing. She wanted to marry Samwise Gamgee before he went off on the quest to destroy the ring. Sam planned to marry her as well, but had not spoken at the time of the quest. Upon his return, however, the romance was rekindled, and the two married May 1 (1 Thrimidge), SR 1420, moving together into Bag End at Frodo's invitation shortly thereafter. Sam and Rosie's first daughter, Elanor, was born on March 25 (25 Rethe), SR 1421. On September 29 (29 Halimath) of the same year Frodo sailed into the west, leaving Bag End and all his posessions to Sam and Rosie; therafter Rosie was considered the Mistress of Bag End.

Rosie and Sam had 13 children together; Elanor, Frodo, Rose, Merry, Pippin, Goldilocks, Hamfast, Daisy, Primrose, Bilbo, Ruby, Robin, and Tolman, and spent a year away in Gondor (where Tolman was born) in SR 1442. In SR 1482, Rosie passed away on Midyear's Day (Lithe), near the end of June (Forelithe).
